Home Screen ? Edit Mode

The main screen contains all the normal information about a wine.

ROFLsoft is working directly with wineries that will publish this information for you! ROFLsoft will then e-mail you the data when the wineries make it available. You will for once get timely data about upcoming new releases. And you will instantly be registered with ROFLsoft for FREE data deliveries via e-mail when you purchase the WineGUIDE+ software.

Also, note the bar code line. . . because the wineries will be providing data in the near future, you will be able to just tap/key-in the barcode on a bottle to immediately access the record!! This can be done right at your favorite wine store.*

Of course, you can add the barcodes of your cellar’s inventory as well. This is the ultimate for looking up your wines’ record. (Companies like Socket sell affordable barcode readers that slip right into the SD or CF slot on your Pocket PC!)

But even without a barcode, the WineGuide+ allows you to quickly find your wines without having to navigate multiple menus or scroll through endless lists. Note the View Mode has small hour-glass icons; tap the hour glass icons to pop up a ?find’ box for that field’s value. More advanced database features are discussed later.

Note that all the fields are grayed out in the View Mode. Each screen has a View Mode and an Edit Mode. When navigating from page to page, the WineGuide+ defaults to View Mode. In this way you can move through your records without worrying about an errant tap or screen touch changing your data. To switch from View Mode to Edit Mode, just tap the Edit icon (paper with pencil).

At the bottom of the screen are ?page tabs.’ Just tap the page tab to easily and quickly move from page to page (just like an Excel spread sheet).

*ROFLsoft is working with major retailers who will provide Pocket PCs equipped with scanners for their customers’ future shopping convenience.

The Notes Page allows you to view notes . . . from three different sources:

- The notes by the Wine Maker

- The Sommelier’s Notes are entered by Wine Experts, be they Magazine Editors, Retailers, Distributors, Wine Bloggers, etc.

- And the most import, the ?My Notes? is where you enter what YOU want to about the wine.

This screen shows the magnified notes in Edit Mode. You know that you are in Edit Mode when you see white backgrounds in the fields.

The magnified view of the notes makes it easier to read.

The WineGUIDE+ also includes a ratings screen. You have three major ratings, but you also can include three miscellaneous ratings (Other1 Other2 and Other3).

And of course there is a place for you to include your rating of the wine.

The Inventory screen allows you to manage your Cellar. . .

And the Food Pairing screen shows what foods go best with a wine . . .

. . . and just tap the field to pop up a list of foods. Yes, adding data is almost always just a single tap away in the WineGUIDE+. Furthermore, the list builds dynamically as you enter new foods. There is no need to maintain a separate table/database of foods.

Off course the system has a Help Page. The help is in hypertext form so tapping underlined words allows you to quickly navigate the Help system.

What sets the WineGUIDE+ apart from all other products is its advanced database engine. Data storage is one thing; simple and fast data retrieval is the key to happiness!

Easy query screens allow you to quickly scan your database to find the exact wine you need at the moment.

A query’s result is presented in a list! You can just tap a wine to go to its full ?Home’ screen view.

?IT IS ALL ABOUT SHARING!!!?

Everyone knows that wine is best when shared with others. Well the WineGUIDE+ is best when data can be easily shared with others.

The ability to easily import and export data makes it a snap to update your personal database with only data that is important to you. This saves valuable memory space on your PDA! Why carry around 1000000 records of wines that you will never see in the store or never buy?!

When you receive your data distributions from ROFLsoft, you can open them up in Excel prior to import. With Excel, you and sort and delete records that you don’t care about. Save the spreadsheet and then import into the WineGuide+. How cool is that?!

Well it gets cooler! . . .

Sharing wine information is made even easier by allowing you to beam a single or multiple records to another Pocket PC!!

This is how the WineGUIDE+ breaths life into a wine’s record. A single record can start at the winery, move to a retailer, move to a wine blogger, move to a Wine Club member, move back to a retailer, move to your Pocket PC and finally move to your friends Pocket PC. Each step along the way, new data notes and ideas for food pairings can be added! If a wine changes over time, shouldn’t its WineGUIDE+ database record?

So remember, if you plan on sharing your data with others, make sure you time stamp and add your name to your notes!
