Installation
Either RUN the setup program or copy the CAB file to your Pocket PC (for example via ActiveSync Explore) and then using the File Explorer, locate the CAB file on your Pocket PC and TAP it to start the install process. MAP a hardware button to the program. Note: Under WM2003 SE you may receive a message saying that the program may not display properly because it was designed for a previous version. You can safely ignore this message. Usage
Press the hardware button that you have assigned to ScreenShotCE. The program pops up and shows you a small preview of your screen shot.
- Name: this shows you which name will be used when you TAP "Save". You can override the selected name in the edit box to the right.
- Save: saves the image. In normal mode the program then closes. In "Auto Shots" mode the program stays on, and moves itself into the background
- Setup: enters the Setup dialog
- Exit: close ScreenShotCE without saving the screen shot.
- GAPI: indicates if GAPI was used to make the screen shot
- BMP/JPG: indicates file format to be used when storing the screen shot
- ZIP: indicates if the image will be moved into an archive file
- Save:X s : when "automatic save after X seconds" is enabled this will show the number of seconds remaining until the image gets saved. If you want to save the image immediately, TAP on "Save". If you don't like the screen shot, TAP "Exit" to discard it.
- AUTO: Indicates that "Auto Shots" mode is active and screen shots are taken according to the interval specified in the "Extras" setup dialog.
Note: tapping the screen shot image is equivalent to tapping the "Save" button.
Special features
Different screen sizes and orientations
ScreenShotCE was programmed with different screen geometries in mind. You can use it with any resolution or orientation, either natively or via special virtual screen programs like NYDITOT or Jimmy Landscape.
If you use the standard mode (non GAPI) the resulting file will have the same resolution as the virtual screen.
If you use GAPI the screen shot will use the physical screen dimensions but it will still give you a true representation of what you see on the screen.
When you are doing GAPI screenshots in landscape mode the preview will be rotated 90 degrees (because GAPI doesn't understand landscape) but the resulting image will show the correct orientation.
Making a screenshot of self
Have you ever tried to make a screen shot of a screen shot program? Normally this is impossible because the Pocket PC operating system does not tolerate TWO programs with the same name running at the same time.
When ScreenShotCE gets started a second time it senses that another copy is already running. The new instance then sends the other copy a message to do a new screenshot, and then silently terminates.
Trial Version limitations
The trial version has full functionality but will stop saving pictures after 20 screenshots have been saved.
